February 2021 - Field Work

RWP-20210220-RedWolf-20210220-ACS_4063.jpg

Pictured above are two female coyotes captured by coyote and red wolf researcher Joey Hinton in February 2021. Measurements, blood and tissue samples are taken before each animal is outfitted with a GPS collar and then released.

Not only will we be able to learn much about the genetics of these animals, but we will also be learning a great deal about their morphometrics, diet, space use, and other behaviors - giving us a well rounded picture of a secretive animal that has yet to be studied extensively in the southeast.
